For decades Saudi Arabia was closed to leisure travellers. Today it is one of the most exciting new destinations in the world – ancient Nabataean tombs in the desert, sandstone rock formations the size of buildings, a mirrored concert hall in a canyon and a capital city of glass towers. Our Saudi Arabia tour package, “Surreal Saudi”, brings all of this together in six days from Kolkata.

Why Saudi Arabia now?

Saudi Arabia opened its tourist visa programme in 2019 and has since invested heavily in heritage sites, museums and desert experiences. For Indian travellers it offers something genuinely new – not another shopping-and-theme-park holiday, but landscapes and history you won’t find anywhere else. Group departures make it easy and comfortable for first-time visitors.

AlUla – the open-air museum

AlUla in the north-west of the country is the highlight of the trip.

What’s included

Visa fees, insurance and personal expenses are charged separately unless confirmed otherwise at booking.

Visa for Indian travellers

Indian passport holders can apply for a Saudi tourist visa. Travellers who hold a valid US, UK or Schengen visa may be eligible for an e-visa or visa on arrival. Because the rules are updated regularly, we check the current process for every booking and guide you through the application.

Best time to go

Dress code and etiquette

Saudi Arabia has relaxed many rules for visitors, but modest dress is still expected: shoulders and knees covered for both men and women. Women are not required to wear an abaya or headscarf as tourists, but a scarf is useful for some sites. Public displays of affection, alcohol and disrespectful behaviour at religious places are not acceptable.

Who will enjoy this trip?

History lovers, photographers, families with older children, and anyone who has “done” Dubai and Thailand and wants something new. Walking at Hegra and the Edge of the World involves uneven ground, so comfortable shoes and a reasonable level of fitness help.
